"Terry, this is awesome! I love it. It reminds me a little bit of the old Sell Scott detective novels, the language is perfect and it is the perfect combination of light and sensitive. Very enjoyable, thank . . ." more

About Me

Describe Yourself:I love to laugh, smile, find amazement in the simple things. I love to make others happy. I love the ocean, the smell of lilacs in the summer, grass between my toes, the joy and comfort of family, colours, art, and poetry. I feel that people, no matter how small or how miserable or how happy how angry or how mean, need love, we should always keep that in mind.

It's taking me so long to get around to adding to "articles" my subscription list. It's always so good to bump into an old friend during comments.

Howdy Mary, I was working on "round" but it's a big hairy poem that's not cooperating. I've spent far too long on it for now, but someday it will be a good poem. I'll give "cage" a go, once I think of something, I hope!
It's always a pleasure to hear from you and to read your stuff, Mary.
Ciao,
David

Hi Mary,
To answer your question: the building of a New Jerusalem is a much-discussed topic amongst many Christian scholars. As Joseph Smith was translating the Book of Mormon, he stumbled upon this topic himself, and upon further study and questioning, discovered that this was to be the case (that the New Jerusalem would be on this continent). It was interesting later that when persecutions to the church members became overwhelming, he headed with his people straight for Missouri (from Ohio), where he taught that this New Jerusalem would be built. So basically, the church teaches this simply because Joseph Smith Jr. received revelation concerning it. That said, it should also be understood that this is a long and complex topic that one could spend much time on.
